On June 12th Venice Hospitality Challenge was presented in Milan at the Show Room Expérience Pommery. The charm of great sailing and hotel excellence come back together again this year under the sign of this regatta, a real Grand Prix of the City of Venice since it is the only one that is disputed in the basin of a city, the Serenissima.
Sportiness, luxury and lifestyle are the reference of this competition that will see eleven Maxi Yachts participating, who have signed unforgettable pages in the history of sailing combined with as many famous companies of the high Venetian hôtellerie. The teams, led by internationally renowned skippers, will compete for the coveted Doge hat, made specifically for the Venice Hospitality Challenge 2018 by the historic Murano glassworks F. B. Signoretti.

This year the Venice Hospitality Challenge also sees the adhesion of the Yacht Club Venezia, promoter of the regatta, to the "Charta Smeralda", the document by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) that comes from “One Ocean Forum”, a project that aims to open an international dialogue on the sustainability of the oceans and the creation of a network aimed at increasing awareness of the problems inherent in the marine ecosystem.
Venice, a city that has always been inextricably linked to the sea, will be at the forefront of this important moment of outreach with the famous skipper Mauro Pelaschier, ambassador of "Charta Smeralda" at the Venice Hospitality Challenge 2018.

Costa Smeralda Yacht Club Commodore Riccardo Bonadeo and Mauro Pelaschier recalled the importance of bringing the values of “Charta Smeralda” not only to the crews and hôtel participants in the regatta but also to the whole city to form a new sensibility towards respect for the sea.
The last edition saw a clear victory of Spirit of Portopiccolo - Ca 'Sagredo thanks to an excellent start and management of the skipper Furio Benussi. Second and third place for New Maxi Jena - The Gritti Palace and Pendragon VI - Hilton Molino Stucky. The award ceremony was attended by high-profile Italian and international sailors: Kim Andersen, President of the World Sailing Federation, Andrew Mc Irvine, general secretary IMA (International Maxi Yacht Association), Francesco Ettorre, FIV President, Rear Admiral Marcello Bernard Italian Navy and Ermelinda Damiano, President of the Venice Municipal Council.
Venice Hospitality Challenge 2018 enjoys the High Patronage of the City of Venice, Media Partners are Excellence Magazine Luxury, Wonder World, Wonder Cortina and Venezia Made in Veneto to which is added the precious collaboration of Alilaguna, CMV Panfido, Venezia Unica and VYP Venice Yacht Pier.
The start of the regatta around 1.30 pm on Saturday 20 October and the base of the fleet will be Marina Santelena while the San Marco basin, the focal point of the route, will allow the public to follow from the shores a spectacular competition in the city's most beautiful in the world. The prizegiving will take place at the Zattere at the VYP Venice Yacht Pier in direct contact with the citizens.
